This is, without question, the best fleece pullover I've ever owned. I have two of them and wear them constantly in Seattle's cool, wet weather. They're not too heavy, which makes them great for running errands, etc., when you're frequently moving between indoor and outdoor locations. They're also great for air travel. The pockets are secure and numerous without being bulky. The front pocket is large enough for a big telephoto lens, too.

The pants are great. But with my pair, there is a piece of plastic sewn in between the layers of pockets that I can't remove easily and it's quite annoying. I'll eventually take a seam-ripper to them and get it out, but that seems like something that should have been caught in quality-control.

The pants are great, save for a couple of issues. First, the magnets tend to wear through the fabric surprisingly quickly. Second, the material is heavy as heck, which seems good for overall durability, but the pants get kind of uncomfortable for air travel, as the fabric tends to bunch up.

I tend to go through about one card reader a year for some reason; they simply stop working after a bit -- perhaps I use them more frequently than they're designed for, or perhaps their working life is only about a year.

In any case, this one is the most reliable CF-card readers I've used. My one complaint is that the cover constantly jumps off its track and I sense it's impending demise. This is the first reader that I'd consider replacing with a duplicate, though, despite the flimsiness of the cover, due to its fast data transfer and relative overall reliability.

It's been a wonderfully busy summer, ...

Well, it certainly has been a long time since I made the effort to post, ... business has been brisk to say the least, and that's a lovely state of affairs.

Now that things have calmed down a bit with the change of seasons, I've time to catch up on my correspondence, marketing, blogs, etc., etc. I've attached, in no particular order, a few recent samples of what I've been up to these past few months. There's been lots more than this, of course, but it'll give you an idea.

I'm hoping to make use of this blog as a place to share information for current and future clients regarding how to store and access their final images, tips for making shoots go smoothly, tips for staging interior spaces to make them look their best in photos, along with explanations of how things work behind the scenes so as to give a more solid understanding of the whole architectural/product photography process.

Any ideas or suggestions for future topics would be welcome, either by posting a comment to the blog or sending me an e-mail directly.

Bedknobs and broomsticks

Ever wonder what it takes to shoot interiors? Time, ... lots of time. Not to mention brooms, Swiffers, squeegees, mops, wipes, and not a little Windex.

Back from Texas, ...

Spent most of last week in Matagorda, Texas. It's the last bit of unspoiled Texas-Gulf coastline, and well worth the effort required to visit. I was there for a magazine assignment, and had a lovely time fishing, kayaking, and taking aerial photos of the coastline. I also did my first yacht interior shoot on my return to Seattle; here's one of the results, along with a couple images from Texas.

Planes, trains, ... you know the drill.

So I've been on the road a lot, and am headed for the Gulf Coast of Texas later this week for an assignment. Wisdom to impart? Hmmm, ... networking is where it's at as far as growing one's business.

Home sweet home

Home at last. The snowy trend continued while I was in New England; I was snowed in at the Providence, Rhode Island, airport and had to stay an extra day. But dad's fine and everything's as close to normal as possible back here in sunny Seattle.

Sometimes I've something to say; today I guess I'll just stick with the visuals.

Massachusetts

I'm currently in my hometown in western Massachusetts, helping out the family as my dad underwent hip-replacement surgery last week. Most everything seems to be going well. I haven't had too much time to photograph anything, but it's snowing today and the roads are too slippery to drive the 50+ miles to the hospital so I think I'll go shoot some snowy landscapes.

Today's photo is of a cemetery in southern New Hapmshire that I took last weekend.

Thursday in the evening

It's interesting to me how something so seemingly simple as a mortgage payment can consume a person, ... therefore, I've been busily working. Here's some new work, ...

Home for a while, ...

Just got back from a lovely press trip to northern Utah, and have a couple of weeks to process/sell the images before heading off to New England for two weeks later this month. Things should settle for a bit after that while I focus on my local architectural, professional and manufacturing clients.

I've grown quite fond of Utah; it's a magnificent place. Today's photos are from my most recent trip.

Paris!

My lovely wife and I have decided that we'll spend our third anniversary in Paris. It's not until this fall, but I'm very excited nonetheless as I've dreamed of Paris since I was a child. Now it's time to bone up on all that French language study, ... Tout le travail et aucunes marques Jack de jeu un garçon mat!
